Synopsis
A rural landscape on the Czech-Slovak border. A river. Vineyards. Here lives eighteen-year old Marek with his father, surrounded by racist hooligans and he himself little better. His only real friend is his dog. When a terrible incident occurs, and he the cause of it, Marek finds himself running a gauntlet that will force him to confront his own preconceptions and worldview. Mira Fornay, shooting in her own hometown and using local non-actors, has fashioned a boldly empathetic tale of a lost soul’s struggle to find human affection and his own sense of orientation in a post-totalitarian wasteland. Since its premiere in Rotterdam, „My Dog, Killer“ has gone on to festivals worldwide, winning awards almost everywhere it is screened. It is truly one of the year’s outstanding films.
