Synopsis
“Home focuses on a group of surly teenagers who appear indifferent to school, resentful of their elders and constantly in search of a fresh sensation to alleviate the boredom of their existences. It quickly develops into something more complex and compelling as it explores the vast difference in values and attitudes between teenagers who disregard the consequences of their actions and bewildered parents filled with good intentions. (…) Shot in Academy ratio with a sprinkling of improvised mobile phone footage throughout, Home suggests something freewheeling and impressionistic but the dramatic impact is precisely judged and expertly controlled. (…) Home is extremely successful in shifting the balance of our sympathies and allowing us to develop a deeper sense of the characters; how parents shape the minds of the next generation and the way teenagers are driven to feel detached from the world around them. (…) Troch handles this complex material with assurance and secures convincing performances from her entire cast with stand-out work from Sebastian Van Dun who invites comparisons with James Dean or the young Sean Penn as the deceptively self-effacing Kevin.” (Allan Hunter, Screen International)
