Patrons such as Maria Schrader, Nora Fingscheidt and Karim Aïnouz are involved in the 18th Berlin Film Festival AROUND THE WORLD IN 14 FILMS 2023. Guests include Agnieszka Holland, Sina Ataeian Dena, Julia Fuhr Mann and Ágnesh Pàkozdi. The program of the cinematic world tour is traditionally presented by personalities from the film and culture scene. In 2023, the following were won as sponsors: the directors Sarah Blaßkiewitz ( “Ivie wie Ivie” ), Nora Fingscheidt ( “Systemsprenger” ), Aslı Özge ( “Black Box” ), Maria Schrader ( “She said” ), Natalia Sinelnikova ( “We might as well be dead” ) and Melanie Waelde ( “Nackte Tiere” ), the directors Karim Aïnouz ( “Zentralflughafen THF” , “Firebrand” ), Michael Koch ( “Drii Winter” ), Julian Radlmaier ( “Self-criticism of a bourgeois dog” ) and Nicolas Wackerbarth ( “Casting” ), the actresses Banafshe Hourmazdi ( “Futur Drei” ) and Saralisa Volm ( “Schweigend steht der Wald” ), the editor and director Konstantin Bock ( “Capharnaüm” ), the genre specialist Tino Hahn, the journalist and curator Frédéric Jaeger and Vincenzo Bugno, head of the Berlinale’s World Cinema Fund.

Festival opening // The festival opens tomorrow, Friday, December 1, 2023, in the cinema in the KulturBrauerei with "La Chimera" by Alice Rohrwacher, presented by the Brazilian-Algerian-French director Karim Aïnouz, godfather of the film. Guests expected for the evening include: the actors Anne Ratte-Polle, Alina Levshin, Isabella Parkinson and Hans-Werner Meyer as well as Matthijs Wouter Knol, director of the European Film Academy, and the producer Jonas Dornbach.
