Synopsis
Four years after their separation Ahmad returns from Teheran to Paris at his wife’s request in order to finalize their divorce. He quickly notices that the relationship between his wife, Marie, and their daughter Lucie is strained. Attempting to relieve the tension, Ahmad soon uncovers a family secret. In his latest film, Oscar, Berlinale, Golden Globe and César winner Asghar Farhadi (“All About Elly,” 2009; “A Separation,” 2011) tells the story of a modern day patchwork family. Superbly written and acted, the film, “Le Passé”, once again proves Farhadi to be a master at dissecting complicated family matters caused by complex relationships. Farhadi’s sixth film was the first to be realized outside of Iran. It screened in competition at the Cannes Film Festival and garnered Bérenice Béjo („The Artist“, 2011) the award for best female performance.
